Welcome to our Website, which has been created by the pupils and teachers of Derrycreha N.S. Glengarriff, Co. Cork.
..We are a co-educational school teaching the new curriculum as set out by the Department of Education.
We are a Catholic School that aims to promote the development of the whole person- intellectually, physically, culturally, emotionally, morally and spiritually. We encourage a living relationship with God and others. In the true Christian spirit we welcome all denominations to our school.

Gymnastics began on the 19th of January 2015 facilitated by Meg Bevan from Monkeynastix Kenmare. Meg has a wide range of equipment including a mini-trampoline, a beam and crash mats. The children are thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. Mondays are a lot brighter in Derrycreha! Thank you Meg! This is a wonderful opportunity in these cold, wet days to have the opportunity for indoor physical activity.

Sr. Gabriel our diocesan inspector visited us for the last time on the 20th of January. We thank her for contribution to the school over the years which has been fun, informative and spiritual. We wish a long and happy retirement.

Open Day took place on the 29th of January, we welcomed our four respective children for the coming academic year. These included: Amy Allen, Donncha Barry, Micheál Coppinger and Evelyn Hartigan. Enrolment is still open, pop in any day for a chat.

Our Active Flag Committee which includes parents, children and teachers, are busy organising wake-up, shake-up, collaborative P.E and auditing our P.E equipment with a view to purchasing some new resources.

Rugby with Eugene and his assistant Shane is ongoing and we thank them for showing up on even the bleakest Fridays in the New Year. We are all hardier and fitter because of this!

Our art strand for January has been printmaking with Eilís our in house artist and S.N.A. Each pupil has had an opportunity to create a multi-coloured block print and will be presenting you with their creations in the near future.

School Improvement Plan - All the staff are partaking in in-service training at the West Cork Education Centre for 3 weeks in the area of Maths Eyes which focuses on opening our eyes to maths all around us in our environment. We hope to bring what we learn back to the classroom to enhance our maths learning as part of our School Improvement Plan this year.
